A wide variety of mammals live or frequent Grant Narrows Regional Park and the Pitt Wildlife Management Area. The large animals include black tail deer, black bear, cougar and coyotes. Mountain goats, although scarce, may also be spotted during winter on the higher slopes of the U.B.C. Research Forest to the east. A marine mammal, the harbour seal, may occasionally be observed in the Pitt River, the mouth of Widgeon Creek and Pitt Lake.

Other fur bearing mammals associated directly with the marsh and wetland habitat in the park area include: fox, mink, beaver, muskrat, otter and raccoon. Wetlands also support sixteen species of small animals such as mice, shrew, mole, bat, rabbit, squirrel and skunk.
